Quarterly Extra Credit Opportunity
Each quarter students will have a chance to earn extra credit. Students may complete this extra credit opportunity up to 3 times per quarter! Each opportunity can earn the student up to 3 points.
Here is what to do:
*The connection between the article and what we have learned in class should be very clear and include lots of detail from the article and what you know from class about the topic.
*There should be multiple connections made to what we have learned.
*There should be clear evidence that you read the article fully and it should be cited appropriately.
*Explanations of connections should be very thorough.
To receive full extra credit students must do the following:
Here is what to do:
- Students may find news clippings from the newspaper or from the websites I have provided below that are in some way related to or relevant to a unit or topic we have studied.
- Once students have found the news clipping or web story they must read it and write a short essay (3 to 5 paragraphs, 5-8 sentences each) that answers the following prompt:
"Explain how the story you found is relevant to something we have discussed in class. Use evidence from the article to support your answer."

To receive full extra credit students must do the following:
- Turn in both the news clipping or provide the link with the written answer (hand written or typed) to the above question. Google docs would be the best way to share with me. Title it "Extra Credit Opportunity".
- Extra Credit must be turned in by one week prior to the end of the quarter. Check school calendar for dates.
